We all have our own healthcare story - whether managing a chronic condition or helping a loved one navigate an illness. It’s often during this journey that you experience firsthand how difficult it is to gain access to the health data and information that give patients and caregivers a full picture of one's health.
It’s what inspired us to create doc.ai in August 2016 - to unlock the value of health data. Over the last five years, in addition to our enterprise offerings, the doc.ai team has developed apps for digital health studies, mental health, genetic browsing and returning to work safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, we’re joining forces with Sharecare, the digital health company that helps people manage all their health in one place, to continue to make healthcare all together better. In January, we announced that doc.ai had entered a definitive agreement to be acquired by Sharecare; and, today, I am thrilled to share that the acquisition has closed and doc.ai is now an official part of the Sharecare family.
As part of the acquisition, the doc.ai team will join Sharecare and continue to power AI technologies and products that improve individuals’ health and well-being. The company, led by Jeff Arnold, founder, chairman, and CEO of Sharecare, and founder of WebMD, holds the same vision as doc.ai: to empower individuals with their health data and ultimately help everyone live better, longer.
What does this acquisition mean for you, app users? For now, you can continue to use the doc.ai apps as you have. In the future, you may see integrations of our applications into Sharecare. For example, you may see doc.ai app features like the medical selfie in Sharecare’s flagship app that quantifies and translates your daily events (e.g. stress, sleep, relationships, activity) into insights you can use to better your health and well-being. If you have not already, I recommend trying out their app for iOS and Android. Additionally, similar to doc.ai, Sharecare values your trust and is committed to protecting user privacy and information. Learn more in the Sharecare Help Center.
Making advancements in healthcare is hard work. I want to thank the users of all our apps that have supported the doc.ai journey from the beginning.
I look forward to what we'll be able to bring to you as a part of the Sharecare family.
